CBSE Term 2 board exam will not be cancelled! Defying the hopes of students who aspire for internal assessment, the Supreme Court today dismissed the plea for cancellation of Board Exam 2022. The petition was filed by a child rights activist, seeking an internal assessment for all. However, the petition was dismissed, paving the way for term 2 board exams for CBSE, ICSE as well as state board exams 2022.

Dismissing the petition, Justice AM Khanwilkar termed the petition as wrong as it creates “false hope”. Justice AM Khanwilkar said, “These petitions create false hope, let the authorities decide. You can challenge that order.” A 3-judge bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar, Dinesh Maheshwari and CT Ravikumar heard the petition.
Justice Khanwilkar also termed the petition as ‘publicity’ and warned the petitioners in such words. “There’s news everywhere. What kind of petitions are being filed and publicized? It has to stop. It has to stop. Don’t come again or there will be exemplary costs. Let the students and officials do their job. We cannot file a PIL like this. Whoever has filed it, we are asking for that petitioner.”
The petition to cancel the board exam 2022 was filed by child rights activist Anubha Srivastava Sahai. In her petition, Anubha Srivastava requested the court to cancel the upcoming CBSE, CISCE, NIOS and other state board exams.
CBSE Board Exams 2022
Students from several regions of the country have filed petitions in the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of board exams and evaluation of students through alternative evaluation criteria. Thereafter, the matter was presented before Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and he referred the matter to a bench of Justice Khanwilkar.
A bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar also passed an order in 2021 to cancel the board exams and assess students through alternative assessment criteria.
Cannel Board Exam 2022 was demanded by many students as they cite learning loss due to online classes. Prior to the petition in the Supreme Court, students were demanding cancellation or postponement of board examinations on social media. Various students shared tweets and shared their problems with the officials.
Many national and state boards have released the board exam 2022 dates. CBSE has notified to start term 2 exams from 26th April, CISCE also asked to start board exams from last April and state boards are also ready to start board from March-April.
Some state boards including Madhya Pradesh, Bihar have started their board exams and Maharashtra board exams are going to start from 4th March.
